CRC at Waterstock

Sunday, June 11
Noon to 5 pm
Erin Fairgrounds, Erin Ontario

CRC will have a booth a Waterstock, a huge, once-in-a-lifetime festival honouring water organized by Wellington Water Watchers and Riverfest Elora  who oppose water-for-profit.  Through the tireless efforts of these local, grass-roots organizations, Nestlé’s wasteful practice of water bottling water in plastic bottles at laughable permit fees has caught the attention the provincial government and of national and international media  – significant steps in making water protection a priority in our society.

CRC is working to protect the Grand River watershed, our corner of the Paris-Galt moraine, our wetlands, Rockwood’s municipal wells, our private wells, our springs, Brydson Creek, Blue Springs Creek – the natural systems which cleanse and refresh the cold, clear water which literally bursts out of the ground to amaze us and to nourish us, as well as the fish and wildlife of our region.

Aggregate operations use and contaminate more water by far than bottlers, at no charge.  They permanently disrupt surface and groundwater systems and use water to wash crushed rock leading to contamination, evaporation and warming.  We must work together to keep this vital concern in the spotlight.
