CRC is fund-raising. If you donate now…
…You might receive two tickets to a concert with Liona Boyd thanks to generous CRC supporters!
What do musicians Gordon Lightfoot, Yo Yo Ma, Eric Clapton, Olivia Newton-John and many others have in common? They’ve all wanted Liona Boyd to perform with them. Thanks to two generous Guelph Line residents, you could find yourself in 2 front & centre seats to hear “The First Lady of Guitar” on Friday, Nov 9 at Guelph’s River Run Centre.
CRC has just kicked off the final fund-raising campaign to save our communities from the ravages of the proposed Hidden Quarry, and our Guelph Line friends have offered these tickets as a way to attract more donations to the cause. We need a $300,000 “war chest” to enable our lawyers and expert witnesses to present our case to the OMB next May; we are 1/3 of the way there, but we are also facing an unforgiving clock. We have no option but to keep the donation ball rolling, so…
How does it work? One individual who donates at least $100 or more to CRC between now and noon, Sunday, Nov 4 will be given orchestra tickets #D15 & D16 to hear Liona Boyd (Value $100). The question is who? The first person to donate $100, or the last? The donor with the longest last name? The largest donation? Only the current ticket holders know the selection criteria, and that information is contained in a sealed envelope, along with the tickets, PLUS a 10% discount coupon for dinner that evening at The Wooly Pub, Borealis Grill & Bar, or the Miijida Cafe & Bistro. The envelope will be opened at 12:01 pm next Sunday, Nov 4. CRC will then use the criteria detailed inside the envelope to identify the recipient from the qualifying list of donors and then contact him/her that afternoon.
A little Hallowe’en fun! But why all the machinations? Simple; CRC needs donations to keep rolling in, day after day. Every dollar is needed. Mr. Sweetnam is betting we will falter when the going gets tough, and “leave the field” for him to do what he wants with our communities. He has been entirely wrong so far, and with your donation of (another?) $100 or more, he will be hearing once again “Fat chance, Greg!”
An evening with Liona Boyd… is there a better way to enjoy a November evening AND help JDCL find its way out of town? Make your donation this week, either online at
