CRC Delegates to Milton Council THIS Monday, December 9 at 7 pm. We will have 10 minutes to speak, and we do not know our exact position on the agenda.
Doug Tripp and Linda Sword will be requesting a donation of $10,000 from the Town during Council’s budget deliberations. We had submitted this request in writing to Town Councilors and the Mayor several weeks ago.
Milton made a $10,000 donation before the aborted 2016 OMB Hearing, and has always objected to the Hidden Quarry application. In 2016 Halton Hills had also donated $15,000 and Guelph Eramosa Township $70,000.
Municipal assistance for CRC’s participation in the 2019 LPAT Hearing so far is limited to the $5000 grant received from Halton Hills Council, leaving a $90,000 gap which we are all working to bridge, especially with events like the Christmas Carol Reading this Sunday.
If you have time to attend the Council meeting (wearing CRC buttons!) it would help demonstrate that residents are still working for CRC and working to cover the outstanding costs of presenting such a substantial case on behalf of the community, in this case, the community of Nassagaweya in Milton. We understand that the Milton budget is tight, but we feel that we must not miss an opportunity to seek support. Our delegation will also alert new members of Milton Council to this multi-year undertaking and the potential impacts of the proposed quarry on Milton…just as the JDCL Campbellville (Reid) Quarry has added another inappropriate application to the Town’s agenda.
The meeting will take place in Council Chambers at the Town Hall at 150 Mary Street, Milton.
